Finally broke through most recent depression haze, and went out and did one of my loops. I went to La Jolla day use area, and did a loop I like, I hike up to Fiire Loop Road. Which I hiked in 26:49 and I jogged the rest in 1:33. Cloudy today, humid, I was dripping wet. Took it slow, legs felt strong, no knee issues. Final time was 2:00:29.

Wednesday September 14
Did my Silverstrand route. Time, 34:45, felt good. Pushed it a little coming back on return leg. Ran barefoot, low tide, sound of water crashing was hypnotic
It's been two weeks since my jenny left to return to alaska...I miss her so much it hurts.

Thursday September 8
Tired today, slept fitfully. Got out after work and it felt good to exercise. Did my Silverstrand route, cool Pacific water feels so good on my barefeet. Ran 36 minutes, more people out and about. Some SSL's had their fishing lines in the water while they sit in their chairs and mutter to themselves, urchins with a tan.

Wednesday September 7
Beat. More mental than physical. Was going to take day off, but I got cabin fever (big house, but feels empty without my love here) and I went out and walked my beach loop.

Tuesday September 6
Missed workout yesterday, felt sick all day, stomach issue. Got some decent rest, felt better today. I did my Silverstrand Beach route: got caught a little more by the tide water, it felt great on my bare feet. Jogging in sand has been working my calves and achilles. Haven't had any issues with my knees (knock, knock) hopefully the sand jogging is working them into being stronger. My time today was 38:47. Getting motivated again has me feeling good.

Sunday September 4th
Jogged the same loop as yesterday, in 36:45. Feels good to run the first half on the water. I had a moment of realization that certain locals have, kind of part calm, part crazy. The ocean took on an iridescent blue steel shimmer, the waves crashed into the beach with a hypnotic crash. For a moment, I got it...
I felt tired, took a 1 hr. nap and had a big plate of vegi's and rice with some homemade bread, toasted with some peanut butter and a chilled ice water. To the good life!

Rowed on my Precor 612 for 20 minutes today, rest day. Legs feel like they have been working ... Sketchers Resistance Runners are helping develop strong legs. Talked with Jenny, she is excited to start her new job, as I am as well!

Friday September 2, 2011
Jogged Silverstrand Beach, barefoot, ran by ocean first 1/2 and on top part of beach the 2nd 1/2, felt tired last five minutes, time was 39:08. Slept good last night, got around 7 1/2 hrs. Feeling better about wifey being gone, stayed busy today and going to work tonight.
Thursday September 1
Very tough day, Jennifer returns to Anchorage to start new job. Lots of red eyes today, I love you sweety see you in 4-6 weeks. The cats and I are keeping things going here in Channel Islands, getting ready to make the transition back to Alaska! My goal is to make most of training in mild, non-snow weather. Did jog on Silverstrand Beach, barefoot, in 33:45. Ran by oean on 1/2 run and on upper part of beach, which was slow going and got the heartrate up. Felt good to jog again. I'm using my Sketcher Resistance Runners as my daily wear shoes they seem to help relieve pressure on knees and back.
